Scripture: Mark 14: 36
“Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will, not mine.”
Observation: Jesus knew what pain and suffering was coming and asked God to prevent it, if it was in His will.
Application: It is very humbling to me to see a bit of Jesus’ human side. He knew what was ahead and he didn’t really want to endure what was coming. Yet he knew that God’s will was more important than his human desires. And the perfect godliness in him empowered him to submit fully.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for sending your Holy Spirit to dwell within me. Please guide me to call on the strength of that when I am worried, questioning or concerned. Guide me to call on you and follow you, participating in your will being done and not dwell on my desires.
