Welcome back sweet friends!
I loved reading how you are reading the Bible each day… it was fun to see how we are all finding time in different ways.. some listening, some reading paper, some with apps, some doing combos in several ways, all of us taking His Word in together, all over the place. I love it!
I don’t know about you, but I am truly enjoying this pace of reading. I know that I am hearing so much more this time. I don’t know if it is the slower pace of the reading, the fact that I have read the Bible several times and so I am able look deeper as the content is not so new, the fact that life is most definitely moving at a slower pace, the fact that the Holy Spirit has different things to say to me this time…. or a combination of all of those. Whatever it is, I am hearing so much, wondering so much and really enjoying this read through so very much.
Earlier in the week I thought about the fact that every single offering is listed out for us to read, over and over, even though they are the same… and then they are listed again in a different way. He wants us to notice this. He wants us to see this and make note of it, not fly through it. He wants us to slow down, listen, pause.
Then, I couldn’t help but stop and take note of Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah, Zelophad’s daughters in Numbers, who approached the elders and became landowners so that their clan would not lose its land. Their father had died and they had no brothers. Those ladies were trailblazers, paving the way for women to become landowners!
I loved reading about the rhythm of offerings he wanted to be made. It made me think of the importance of the rhythm of pausing to reflect, pause, pray and honor God.
Each day brought questions and wondering, but also marveling, too.
I ‘budget’ an hour every morning for my reading, knowing that many mornings, that turns into 30 minutes, which is still plenty of time for me to pray, worship, read, wonder, ask questions and journal. I prefer to use the full time. 30 minutes work, 60 minutes is much better. But budgeting more than I need has been so great for me, as I have yet to feel rushed.
I have yet to have to drive kids to school, too, as we are still on remote learning. So…. silver linings.
How about you… How has this reading pace been for you? Good reading time? Enough to read daily? What do you think of the pace? How much time do you set aside? How is it working for you? I’d love to know. This will help for future readers. Share in the comments, please! (Thank you!!)
And, on to this week’s schedule….
