Scripture: Mark 14: 38
Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.
Observation: Stay on guard against temptation
Application: I’ve been focusing my SOAP posts on my husband lately, as I am working through the Power of a Praying Wife.
I have to think that God has set this message aside for me, though.
For the past few days I’ve had a new project on my mind… and it has almost consumed me. I am so excited about my new idea and its possibilities.
That is good… provided I do not let my central responsibilities fall aside. And as long as I don’t let this new project tempt me away from spending time with God.
Temptation can creep in anywhere and cause trouble. I need to resist the urge to allow anything to push aside my time with God.
Sure, it’s okay to pursue this project (And oh, I am so excited about it!) but I need to make sure it doesn’t cause more important things to suffer from it.
Prayer: Lord, thanks for this reminder to keep my efforts in check and not be led into temptation away from my time with you.
I confess that some mornings I ask that we just get though our time quickly so I can move on with my day. Please forgive me for that very wrong perspective. This time is our time… and it is a gift from you to be relished.
Please, Lord, guide me in ordering my priorities so that I can live the life you have set for me. Guide me with this new project, too. Show me where to take it and allow me to honor you with that, too.
And thank you for your sweet, sweet forgiveness.
