Earlier today I rode in my first training ride of the season for the MS-150, a 2-day, 180-mile ride to raise awareness of and funds to battle Multiple Sclerosis.
Here’s a quick video from the rest stop at mile 30 of today’s 47-mile ride:
And here is another of the lovely snack bar at the rest stop:
The big ride is in just six weeks, which means I should be much deeper into training right now. In the past I have been much more diligent, but this year it just hasn’t been that way. And that is about to change.
Last year I had such a fantastic, strong ride. I even finished day one before my husband.
If I expect to even enjoy myself at all this year, I need to kick it into gear and get on that saddle. a lot. I’ve got 5 weeks to get my bottom used to sitting on a tiny seat, my legs stronger and ready to pedal some hills and the rest of me just ready. I was sore before I even made it home from the ride. My thighs hurt as I climbed into the car. This is not good, my friends.
I thought the ride would be old hat this year. I was wondering how my fundraising letters to my friends this year were going to be different from the ones in the past. Well, I’ve found my angle… and I’d better get cracking! Prepare to hear a lot more about cycling in the next 6 weeks. And please, pray for me.. My bottom (and the rest of me) needs it!
