If you are reading Luke with me this month, today we are reading Luke 11. Even if you haven’t been reading all along, feel free to jump in and read with us.
Here is what I heard in the reading today:
Scripture: Luke 11:8
I tell you, though, he will not get up and give him the bread because he is his friend, yet because of the man’s boldness he will get up and give him as much as he needs.
Observation:
Often what is given is a result of boldness in asking.
Application:
Jesus was instructing the disciples about prayer, explaining that they should pray with boldness. In some things I pray bold prayers but in others I can be a bit timid. It seems I need to be bolder in my requests.
Prayer:
Lord, guide me in not being so timid, but to pray big and bold and with confidence. I don’t know why I so often couch prayers with disclaimers such as “if it is in your will.” You already know your will. And you know I respect it. Please guide me in being bolder. (I’ll keep those bold prayers to myself, though. Posting them here seems a little extra bold.)
Guide me Lord. Thank you for this reminder to be bold and have confidence in your provision. Here I go…
What about you?
Are you bold in your prayers?
What stood out to you in today’s reading?
