Blogging Through the Gospels: Luke 9:28-62

The reading for Friday is Luke 9:28-62.

Here is what I heard:

We are all on the same team, if we are working for Him

Scripture: Luke 49-50

“Master,” said John, “we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us.”

“Do not stop him,” Jesus said, “for whoever is not against you is for you.”

Observation:

Just because someone is not working directly with you for God’s glory does not mean you are not working together or cannot work together. All those working for the Lord are on the same team.

Application:

How can I work better with others who are also working for the Lord? What other efforts can I support? How can all of us working for Him work better for Him together? Sometimes it feels as though different ministries are completing… but that shouldn’t be.

Prayer:

Lord, please show me how I can better foster a spirit of collaboration for you.

Show me people and ministries that you want me to join in collaboration and show us how to work together for you.

Do you have any ideas for me on ways I can collaborate better? How do you work together for the Lord?

  1. I focused on the same passage you did for today’s reading but my first thought was that it was really egotistical or presumptuous of the disciples to assume that this man couldn’t be doing God’s work by driving out demons. It taught me today to not judge so quickly. Just because someone’s different than I am, doesn’t mean they aren’t also doing God’s work. An interesting concept…

  2. Luke 9:45 really opened my eyes…

God will help us understand the Bible, if we only ask him.

Jesus looks at things backwards from the way we look at them. We need a huge value change!

  4. I just started using the soap format for my Bible study readings and I am enjoying it sooooooooo much! I am reading through Genesis right now. I think one of the neatest aspects of this is summarizing the devotional reading with a title and then listing the titles at the front of the journal! Thank you!
