As you are gearing up for roadtrip season, don’t forget to pick up one a portable desk at your local craft store. I picked 3 up at Michael’s for $5 each a few summers ago and they have been invaluable in so many ways… And we don’t even take that many road trips!
Of course, they were perfect for our bazillion-hour road trip (and back) a few summers back. The kids used them as activity tables and dining tables and a special spot to store their treasures.
They have also been perfect for shorter trips and keeping the kids happy between errands, or when homework has to be done between doctor appointments, Tae Kwon Do practice and school. (I consider them my secret weapon when I want the kids to get homework done… FAST!)
These are especially fantastic because they are plastic (read: easy to clean) and have large pockets on the sides to hold crayons, pencils, Lego bricks, Uno cards, snacks and even juice boxes.
When our youngest was in a full carseat, my husband took two desks, cut them and put them together with duct tape to make a desk that would fit over her armrests. Genius!
How else else do you think we could use these lap desks? Do you have any?
