Comfortable shoes that look great. Really.

Last week I was in Florence, Italy for the Master of Wine Symposium.

In packing for the trip, I knew I wanted to look sharp with all those brilliant wine professionals, but I also knew I’d be walking on uneven streets and standing and chatting at more than a few wine tastings. I would be standing for hours each day and wanted my feet to be comfortable, but also look great.

I had every intention of buying a super luxury pair of shoes or two to use as my daytime heels but I ran out of time and, instead, popped into a Payless Shoe Source to pick up a pair of ballet flats a friend had told me she loved.

I ended up picking up a pair of the ballet flats and also a pair of nude heels, as well. They seemed to be comfortable so I hoped for the best, but was a little apprehensive.

I ended up wearing the ballet flats, which truly felt like slippers, to  walk through the city and to the events each morning and then switched into the heels as I arrived. Both were absolutely perfect and professional-looking. And both, although being super inexpensive in my opinion,  held up beautifully after a lot of rough wear – my heels even made it through many treks through gravel and rock covered courtyards.

These shoes from Payless are now my favorite shoes for looking good and feeling great. They are timeless in style and amazingly comfortable.

Even though both pairs of shoes were in excellent condition when I returned home, I went to Payelss and bought another pair of each to keep at the top of my closet. Whenever these shoes do finally have too much wear, I know I’ll want another pair and don’t want to risk not being able to find them.

While I was there, I also snapped up a few more pairs of the flats, as they had them in a ton of other super-cute styles– navy and white stripes, black and taupe, white with cutouts.
