Today’s reading is Esther, Chapters 2 & 3. This is the only time in this reading session that we will double up and do two chapters.
Yesterday’s SOAP entry sure got some conversation going! I like seeing people respond to His word, and to my SOAP observations, even if what we see isn’t
exactly the same. To me that is just part of the beauty of the Bible: He can speak to each of us and share with each of us just what we need to hear.
Here is what I heard today using the SOAP devotional method:
Scripture: Esther 2:20
But Esther had kept secret her family background and nationality just as Mordecai had told her to do, for she continued to follow Mordecai’s instructions as she had done when he was bringing her up.
Observation:
Esther followed Mordecai’s instructions, respecting his guidance even when she was no longer under his care.
Application:
This passage showed me not only Esther’s character in that she continued to respect Mordecai, but also Mordecia’s character in how he reared her so that she would continue in that way.
Parenting is serious business!
Prayer:
Lord, please continue to guide me in guiding my children. Help me to model respectful behavior for them and also teach them the principles you have outlined for our lives. Also, please help me make it through my mistakes… I am so thankful for your grace!
