Here’s what I heard this morning:
Scripture
Exodus 2:23-24
During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob.
Observation
The people cried out to the Lord and he heard them and responded to their cries.
Application
Just before I read the passage for today I stopped to pray and ask for wisdom in my reading. But before I could even get to that part, I just told God how tired and weary I am. I shared my burdens and asked for help. I cried out to him and asked him to guide me through the garbage. Then I thanked him for all the good things he has led me to experience and also do. And then I said something like, “And please, let me hear you in what I am about to read.”
Really. That happened.
He wants us to cry out to Him when we are weary. When we do, He will hear us. I need to remember that more often.
Prayer
Oh, Lord, thank you for this refreshment today. No, my troubles aren’t gone, but knowing that you hear me and knowing that I can cry out to you is encouraging. I will make it through my frustrations and you will guide me if I just cry out and then listen. Thank you for pulling me into your word this morning.
What about you?
Are you crying out to him? If you are, he hears you and will guide you. And he loves you. He’ll never grow weary of hearing you cry out to Him when you are in need.
