The following is a guest post from Bible in 90 Days graduate and Group 17 Mentor, Heather.
I haven’t written a Bible in 90 Days post in a while. Not only have I been reading through it again, but I’ve also been privileged to be a mentor to a group of readers this go-round. I’ve been so blessed by them, prayed for them, prayed for BY them…it’s been a wonderful experience.
But what I want to write about today is about finishing. No, not just finishing…finishing well. I’m current on my reading and loving it as much as I did last read through. But I know there are so many who are behind in their reading. Members of my own group are behind, but I’ve heard from so many that say they WILL finish.
I want to encourage you…if you are reading through the Bible with us this term…finish well. Set a goal to finish in our time frame of 90 days, which will be October 8, this Saturday. If you are so far behind you would have to neglect your family to get caught up… well, don’t do that. You want your Bible reading experience to encourage your family to read the Word, not discourage them! HA!
But, if you are ten days or less behind…YOU CAN DO IT. Set aside 30 – 45 extra minutes a day. I know it will be hard. I know you will probably have to rearrange your schedule to fit time in. But knowing you have accomplished this goal of reading His Word…the entire Bible…in 90 days with a group of people as committed as you to finish, I’m just going to tell you…it’s a feeling that you’ll never forget.
As one who had never read the Bible cover to cover in her 40+ years of being a good Southern Baptist girl, I can tell you that finishing well gave me more than a feeling of accomplishment; I learned something about myself when I closed my Bible after reading the last verse of Revelation. I learned that even though I had been lied to by the enemy for all those years that I’d NEVER be able to stick to reading it all the way through, that it was too hard and too big and (yes, I’m gonna go there) too boring for me to accomplish that seemingly impossible task, I didn’t listen to him! I didn’t listen to him! I.DIDN’T. LISTEN. TO. HIM!
Don’t let his lies cheat you out of devouring God’s Word these last few days. You CAN do this! If you need any more encouragement, plus some helpful tips on how to slip a few extra reading minutes in your day, read this post from Amy here at Mom’s Toolbox.
Amy, along with your mentor and all of the other Bible in 90 Days participants, will be dancing the happiest of dances with you when you finish!
