Scripture: Mark 5:34
He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
Observation: This is Jesus talking to a woman who, looking for healing after years of bleeding and suffering, merely touched Jesus’ clothes and was healed. She didn’t even need to talk with him, for she had complete faith that just by touching him, she would be healed. And her faith healed her.
Application: It occurred to me that perhaps all this healing throughout the New Testament is to show us that we can receive ultimate, eternal healing just by having faith in Jesus Christ. (Many of you might have already made this connection, but this was my light bulb for today. Hope you aren’t disappointed in me.)
So many times Jesus heals, and explains that the faith of those he has healed is what healed them. It is by faith alone that all these people are miraculously healed. So then doesn’t that show that by faith alone we can receive ultimate healing from the Lord alone?
He wants to give it to all of us. But it can only be received through faith. If you don’t believe in it and Him, it won’t ‘work.’ You can’t be passive. You must have faith.
Prayer: Thank you for showing me, in yet another way, how important faith is… And how critical it is that we reach out to you in belief. Thank you, Lord for your gift of ultimate healing and love. Please guide me in sharing my faith and your works in my life so others who may be questioning will stop questioning and start reaching out in faith.
