Journaling through the Bible in 90 days: Day 11

Brrrr! It’s still cold here in Texas, but today I am off to warmer temps in California for a board retreat/ planning session with the national officers of Women for WineSense.

I always love walking through vineyards and thinking about Jesus’ analogy of him being the vine and all of his believers the branches. We have a vineyard hike planned as one of our activities. You can bet I’ll spend part of that time in silent prayer.

I hope to post a bit from our adventures here, but, if you don’t want to wait, I bet my posts to Instagram will come sooner.

But before we get too far off topic, here’s what I heard in today’s reading:

SO thankful I can speak directly to Him!

Today’s Reading: Numbers 8:15- 22:7

Scripture: Numbers 9:8

Moses answered them. “Wait until I find out what the Lord commands concerning you.”

Observation:

Throughout this reading, the people have questions and Moses speaks on their behalf and even begs on their behalf at some points, and returns the Lord’s messages to the people.

Application:

Pre-Jesus, most people are unable to speak to the Lord directly. Understandably, they have a lot of questions. To get answers, they have to go through someone else (here Moses). Moses also bargains and makes requests on their behalf, which is nice, especially because Moses seems to be a real clear thinker.

I am so thankful that, through Jesus, I can speak directly to the Father and listen to His answers. I need to be sure I do not take this gift for granted.

Prayer:

Thank you, Lord, for enabling direct communication with you thanks to my relationship with your son, Jesus Christ. Thank you for the Holy Spirit. Thank you for seeing this need and desire and addressing it. I am truly thankful.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
