Scripture: Revelation 21: 4
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
Observation: Life in the new Jerusalem, on the new earth, with God among us, will be an awesome, amazing, unimaginable experience. I cannot fathom a complete lack of pain, a life of total joy, worshipping God among us.
Application: Whenever I feel pain or frustration I need to focus on the end: life in the new Jerusalem. As a follower of Christ I get to share in that joy when the time is right.
I must admit, though, that reading this makes me wonder about the non-believers in my life. Does this mean that I will not be tormented by their decisions, should they never decide to follow Christ? I certainly want them to share in this jubilation, but I cannot control their faith. This troubles me now. Will it trouble me then?
Prayer: Thank you, Lord for the creation of a new earth in which your followers will get to live alongside you and worship you. And thank you for sending your son to die for my many sins, so that I can partake in that new life eternally. I worry about the unbelievers in my life, though. Please move in their hearts in an undeniable way so that they will want to live for you. And please continue to guide me in living for you, so that those around me can see you through me.
