Good morning from Sicily, sweet friends! As I wrote yesterday, it is lovely to be back in touch.
It’s raining right now, which makes me even more thankful I spent some time in the city center yesterday buying a few gifts.
Here is what it looked like outside of my door last night with the wind blowing and lightening cracking…
It also has made me stop and consider the fact that Paul was on Sicily surrounding stormy weather, after the shipwreck in Malta (at least I think that is right). This morning I could be racing around, and I still may, but I love thinking about Paul and how he spread the stories of Jesus… how he shared truth and forgiveness and love.
I am following the She Reads Truth current study. Right now we are smack dab in the middle of Acts, which tells of Paul. In addition to the Acts reading, a few other verses that echo or expand the Acts passages of the day are included.
Here’s one that tugged at me, especially:
(I feel a SOAP coming on…..)
Scripture:
"Devote yourselves to prayer; Stay alert in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us that God may open a door to us for the Word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains, so that I may make it known as I should." --Colossians
Observation:
Make prayer a priority– don’t stop! Use it to thank the Holy Spirit and also ask His help that all who are sharing the Word will not be hindered, but will share it in honoring ways.
Application
I want to speak His word more.. and do so as HE intends for me to do. Thankfully, I am not physically in chains like Paul was, yet at times I feel restricted when I want to share. The Holy Spirit knows how to get me out of that feeling.
Prayer
Father God,
Thank you so very much for calling me to you and for enabling me to read your Word, really ponder it, and see the amazing things you do and have done for me.
I do share about you– which is super fun. But I know I could share more and more effectively. I am yours. Show me the way. Show me how to use the gifts you have given me and grown in me to honor you. Break the chains that hold me back or trip me up and guide me in showing YOUR love so others may embrace it, too.
Love. Thats’s what needs to be shared. Love is the truth.
Thank you, Father. :)
Back to you…
Thank YOU for reading. In addition to the prayer above, I will be praying that you see Him, hear Him, feel Him and that the barriers that may restrict you from sharing His love, whenever they pop up, will be removed.
Thanks for being here.
In love,
Amy
PS: I’m also reading a Psalm a day in the NIV and The Message today (Monday) I read Psalm 33. Wanna join me? Start today with 33– or start Tuesday with 34. :)
