Although I haven’t been posting much lately, I have been reading a Proverb a day and thinking about you. I hope that you have been enjoying the reading.
Each day of the reading so many things have been popping out and zinging me with encouragement and wisdom. It is my prayer that has been the same for you.
If you haven’t been reading with me, feel free to jump in right where we are through the end of the month. Each day I am reading the Proverb which correlates with the date. Today is May 19, so I read Proverbs 19.
Here’s what grabbed me, using the SOAP devotional format:
Please keep in mind that this is what I heard God sharing with me. You may hear something different, even from the same verse.
Scripture: Proverbs 19: 11
A man’s wisdom gives him patience,
it is to his glory to overlook an offense.
Observation:
When I’m feeling wronged, I need to stop, be wise, and know when to overlook it.
Application:
Oh, I am not good at patience. And so I guess I am not very wise, either.
So often I let the actions of others offend me when I really should look past them.
This has got to stop.
Prayer:
Lord, you know what is going on in my heart. Please, Lord, the next time I feel my blood beginning to boil, will you please bring me back to this verse and help me find a way to cling to it and act on this rather than on frustration? I want to live with your love filling my heart, not frustration. Thank you for speaking to me and guiding me.
