Following along?
Then you might have guessed it… This post was scheduled a touch early, too…. I’ll try to update you on our trip in the coming posts, but I didn’t want to risk something funky happening and the post not making it to you.
So I promise I read and am reading. I hope you are, too. :)
And on to Proverbs 12…
Today’s Reading: Proverbs 12
Using the SOAP devotional method, here’s what I heard this time…
Scripture: Proverbs 12:27
Whoever is slothful will not roast his game,
but the diligent man will get precious wealth.
Observation:
Being lazy will keep you from achieving what you want, but continually working towards your goal will bring success.
Application:
At first glance, this verse very much encourages me in terms of all of my diligence to VineSleuth/ Wine4.Me over the past few years. Building the business has been an uphill battle during which I’ve had to keep going and going, working on all sorts of things and learning new things and searching for solutions and implementing them. It has been exhausting and yet exhilarating at times. And I’ve got lots more work ahead of me, no doubt.
So often I see God’s encouragement in my work, as He places people in my path and offers amazing experiences. Reading Proverbs this time has encouraged me greatly in this pursuit and has reminded me to continue to seek Him, keep my paths straight, and just keep on trucking, being diligent.
This passage also reminds me of other things in my life: my role as a parent, as a wife, as a friend. My role as a follower of Christ.
I thing God is reminding me here that all worthwhile things (that precious game/ wealth) are worth working towards and being diligent in that work. Great marriages don’t just happen without effort, and neither do strong relationships with your children, friends, or even Christ. A relationship (and salvation) may be given to us just by the asking, but those relationships (with friends, family members, Christ) become so much more when we diligently pursue them and nurture them.
In so many things, remaining diligent will bring the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Laziness will not.
I must remain diligent in those things I value.
Prayer:
Father God, you amaze me in your encouragement and sharing of wisdom and insight. I am so thankful you gave me the Bible to read. It’s full of really awesome stuff!
Being diligent is sometimes hard. Thank you so much for this reminder that it will pay off, that diligence on the right paths is rewarding and laziness yields nothing.
Please continue to guide me and make my paths straight. Please continue showing me the paths to take and helping me zero in on the important things and giving me strength when I am weary.
Thanks for standing by me through all I do and encouraging me in the right steps I take.
I love you and am amazed by you and how much your Word applies to my life always.
Thank you.
Amen
