Hello from Gamla Stan Stockholm! We arrived here yesterday and it has already been lovely. We are staying in a 400 year old house here that is super fun, has a lot of character and has even more stairs. Each level holds a bedroom with big, beautiful windows— except the basement room which does not have windows and, of course, the dungeon doesn’t have windows, either. (Yes, I did type dungeon. But it is a pretty cozy room now.) Today we are starting with a bike tour of Stockholm after breakfast. Should be a blast.
But, before all of that starts, there is the time with the Holy Spirit. Today, as it is March 16, we are on Proverbs 16…
Today’s Reading: Proverbs 16
Using the SOAP devotional method, here’s what I heard this time…
Scripture: Proverbs 16:20
Whoever gives thought to the word will discover good,
and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord.
Observation:
Take the time to read and think about the word, trusting in God, and good things will come your way.
Application:
God wants to spend time with us and bless us. He wants to reveal His glory and show us the right path. To get those things, though, we need to give him our time and focus. Skipping out on time spent reading and really thinking about His word means you skip out on His direction and blessing.
I’m not saying that those who spend time in the word, and trust in his guidance will never experience strife. What I am interpreting here, though, is that He will be there and bless us through all situations when we reach out to Him and trust Him.
Prayer:
Father God, you amaze me.
Just this morning I woke up late and was deliberating as to how to fit in my devotional time before heading off to a scheduled event. I knew I didn’t want to skip this, but I also didn’t know how to fit it in. And then I read this.
You’ve got me, Lord. Thanks for reminding me that spending time with you is critical and the most important thing I can do today. Thanks for calling me to you and reassuring me that time with you is always well worth making room for in my schedule.
Please, Lord, be with me today and always. Guide me as I make decisions throughout the day. Show me my path. I trust you. I love you.
Amen.
