Good morning, friends! It’s been exciting to see so many of you joining me to read and SOAP with me this session. :) I hope you find this time fulfilling and well worth it.
If you are reading with me, today we are on Proverbs 2. Remembering what to read in the Proverbs is as easy as remembering the day’s date when you read them with me.
So you got this. It’s easy.
Let’s go!
Today’s Reading: Proverbs 2
Using the SOAP devotional method, here’s what I heard this time…
Scripture: Proverbs 2:7
He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
he is a shield to those who walk in integrity.
Observation:
He will share His wisdom and protect with those who follow Him.
Application:
I sure want wisdom from the right place, as well as protection from any number of things. (I don’t think I’m alone in that, am I??)
In reading this verse, though, it can be easy to get caught up in a requirement to do good works in order to gain that wisdom and protection. Being upright and walking in integrity can be challenging– and I sure need His wisdom and guidance to do so. The way I see it, though, I recall the New Testament promises and see that following Christ washes away our sins, allowing us to be clean and upright. Honestly following Christ enables us to share in His wisdom and protection.
Prayer:
Lord, please guide me in reaching out for and hearing your wisdom. I want to walk in your ways and not trip. I want to see your wisdom and experience your protection.
Thank you for washing away my sins so I can be considered upright, even through my mistakes.
Thank you for calling me to you this morning and reminding me that calling out to you everyday (and in any moment), and honestly following you will return your guidance and protection.
Please keep me close, Lord. Please guide me in hearing you. And please keep guiding me as I learn how to better follow you and your wisdom.
Amen.
Here is what I have heard in the past when reading Proverbs this way and using SOAP:
