Good morning to you!
There is a definite contrast shown in today’s reading. I am reading both the NIV and Eugene Peterson’s “The Message” and Eugene’s names for wisdom (Lady Wisdom) and folly (Madame Whore) do not beat around the bush. In both instances, though, the Word was clear to me to listen, to learn.
Here’s what I heard in Proverbs 9:
Today’s Reading: Proverbs 9
Scripture: Proverbs 9:9
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser;
teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.
Observation:
There is always more wisdom to gain by listening. (And those that do not listen are not wise.)
Application:
There is always more to learn and more to hear which can benefit us. I need to continually strive to fill my mind and hear true wisdom, which is the wisdom which comes from the Lord.
Prayer:
Thank you, Lord, for calling me to you and offering your Word. Please guide me in continuing to collect wisdom from you. I want to stay true to you and do as you guide. I want to grow in wisdom and insight and walk in your ways. Thank you for reminding me that I can do that with you. Please surround me with teachers and friends who point to you and your ways. Keep me in your Word. Show me which reading plan to follow and share next. You know what is right for me. Help me as I submit to your wisdom and follow your path.
Thank you, Lord.
Amen.
