Scripture: Revelation 4: 9-11
9Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives forever and ever, 10the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives forever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
11“You are worthy. Our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.”
Observation: To give glory and honor to our living God, all the elders of the churches will fall before Him, placing their crowns (and selfish interests) aside. Then they will recite together words of truth and praise.
What an amazing sight this will be! I have never seen anyone fall to the ground in reverence to anyone. And only our Lord is worthy of that. What a sight John saw, as he got a preview of what is to come.
Application: No, I don’t need to fall to the ground in worship now. Keeping this image in mind reminds me of how much appreciation and reverence I should show to our Lord every day in honoring Him, recognizing Him and thanking Him.
Prayer: O Thank you, Lord for being the Lord of all, the King who lives forever, who is sovereign and who still loves me… and all of his creation. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to worship you… and for wanting me to worship you. I can only imagine what the day will be like when we ALL sing to you. Thank you for allowing me to look forward to that day and to enjoy the many other blessings offered in the meantime.
