Seeking Family Devotional Ideas

Last week I received an email from a reader who is searching for a devotional which centers on family issues.

From her email:

I was wondering if you have a suggestion for a topical devotional for raising kids (boys) or family related topics. A friend and I are going to do a 1 on 1 study and are having a hard time finding something that suits us both…any ideas?

She went on to say that she is not looking for a study, but rather a devotional that she can use and discuss.

Since we have become such a great community of sharers here, I thought I would ask you to help.

Do you know of such a devotional? Have you used it? What did you think about it?

Please share your experiences and thoughts in the comments and ask your friends if they might do the same.

I know that more than one of our readers could benefit from our combined experiences.

Thanks!

  1. She didn’t mention how old her kids are. But with my teens I’ve been using and loving Fuel Devotions for Parents and Teens:

  2. My mentor at church and I are doing a 1 on 1 study through “A Woman After God’s Own Heart” by Elizabeth George. We actually read 2 chapters for each session, since we meet every two weeks, but you could do whatever you want. The chapters are great!

    1. I’ve done that study and really enjoyed it. I definitely learned a lot and still reflect back on it. Thanks for your input!

I use “The One Year Devotions for Boys” and I love it! It has great stories that my kids relate to and it’s opened up nice conversations with my 6 year old.

a friend and i were doing the Women of Faith Devotional for Friendship. It didn’t specifically address raising boys, but really does an excellent job of starting discussions regarding how GOD fits into your friendships and your family life.. (the only reason we quit is b/c she ended up taking a job that changed her schedule. we plan to start back.)
