Hello there! Thanks for joining me this morning for some more SOAP. I love using my SOAP time to gain guidance for life… and I appreciate that you want to share this time with me. I hope my thoughts bless you. Your support in reading blesses me… thank you!
Here’s what I heard this morning:
Scripture
"I say, then, walk by the Spirit and you will certainly not carry out the desire of the flesh." --Galatians 5:16
Observation
Focus on what the Spirit directs to avoid sinning.
Application
Please notice that I said ‘avoid’ not ‘abstain’ up there. I believe that focusing on the Holy Spirit and its teachings WILL keep us in the path away from sin, but that sin can still creep in there. (Which is why we need Jesus Christ. We cannot be perfect and follow every letter of His law.)
Focusing on the Holy Spirit WILL keep our mind where it should be, which is a massive help in guiding our flesh to do the right things, too. So let’s focus, people!!! (And then accept grace when it is needed, too.)
Prayer
Father, thank you so much for the grace you provide through your Son, Jesus Christ. Without that grace, I would be toast, no matter how close I come, no matter how hard I try. It is He alone that gave the provision of my sins being washed away for good. Thank you so much for that.
Please help me to focus on Him and the Holy Spirit and You and all of your teachings so that I will carry out THOSE things and pass over sinful desires and nagging as much as possible. I will mess up. Focusing on you will reduce that, though… and will remind me of the forgiveness that will come when I do. Thank you.
