Scripture: Psalm 57:5
Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens!
May your glory shine over all the earth.
Observation: This is written amidst major turmoil. It was written about the time David met up in the cave with Saul, who was trying to kill him, and yet David listened to God and spared Saul. In the midst of Saul’s attempts on his life, David still praises God.
Application: Even in the worst of times, God is still great, all-knowing, powerful and filled with love. I find in inspiring that David still listened to and praised God, even in his despair.
I haven’t had any major catastrophes in my life. I’ve had some disappointments, but nothing major.
And I hope that if I ever do, I will still see God holding me and helping me through. Because He will always be there, even in the ick.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your unfailing love. Thank you for creating me and loving me and standing by me, even when things go wrong. You should be exalted above all else… your glory does shine everywhere! And even when I am disappointed in myself (as happened this weekend) you are there, holding me, comforting me, guiding me and loving me. Thank you, Lord. Thank you for this example of David’s unfailing love for you. Also, thank you for your unfailing love for me.
