Scripture: Luke 22:40
On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”
Observation: Jesus instructed the disciples to ask for strength from God that they would not be tempted.
Application: God wants us to call on him for help. And he knows the power Satan can have.
Jesus instructs us several times throughout the Bible to go to God even before trouble breaks out and pray for strength to resist evil.
In my reading of The Power of a Praying Wife this morning, I have been instructed to pray about temptation.
Stormie Omartiam instructs her readers to guard against temptation by praying about it.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for inviting me to call out to you for all my troubles and concerns. And thank you for warning me about the strength of Satan.
Please, Lord, guard my marriage against any form of temptation which might cause our union to crumble. Keep our (days away from 10 year!!) commitment strong. Thank you for the trust we have built in each other. And thank you so much for enabling us to communicate our thoughts to each other well.
There can be many forms of temptation which could bring trouble. Please keep them all away and guide us in growing our marriage closer to you.
Thank you, Lord.
Through September, I am studying The Power of a Praying Wife. If you would like to join in the reading, the schedule I am using is here.
