Scripture: Luke 11:34-35
34Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body is full of light. But when they are bad, your body also is full of darkness.35See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.
Observation: Your eyes can either shine the light of the Lord or they can depict darkness within you. Be aware and only reflect light, not evil, by making sure that there isn’t any evil within you.
Application: I certainly don’t want to reflect evil.
So I have got to do my best to keep it out of me.
Satan is going to come a knocking. I need to do my best to fix my eyes on Jesus and on my Father. They have washed me clean and it is up to me to continue following them and remembering their love.
I need keep focused on the light and the good, and push the darkness away when it tries to get me.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your redeeming love. Thank you for clearing the darkness out of me and making me clean.
Please guide me in recognizing and pushing away evil at all times.
I don’t want to think negative thoughts and I don’t want to feel defeated. Don’t let me let Satan beat me down when your love is so much stronger. I’d much rather cling to you and reflect your light inside of me. Please, Lord, help me to remember this and you when I am starting to slip and please catch me before I let myself go too far.
