Scripture:
Be joyful in hope,
patient in affliction,
faithful in prayer.
-Romans 12:12
Observation:
Stay hopeful.
Hang in there.
Keep reaching out to him.
Application:
Sometimes it is hard to stay the course.
Aside from being a parent, which carries its own challenges (And is a lot harder to write about in detail, here, to be honest), I am also a tech startup CEO. And this startup has been inching along for seven years, building a foundation, growing that foundation and is still pre-revenue. It has not been easy. It has been expensive– both in dollars and in time. Each step, though, I’ve prayed and listened and tried to remain joyful, hopeful, patient and faithful to my callings, all those callings– mom, wife, friend, daughter, and founder/CEO. It has taken a LOT of prayer, my friends, a LOT. There have been a lot of hits from a lot of sides in all of those roles.
But I’m staying the course and listening to my guide as best I can.
His word for us says to remain joyful as we hope, and patient in the suffering, and faithful in prayer. Keep Him close and hang in there. He really does have us, even in the waiting and the hurting.
Prayer:
Father God,
I need you. I most definitely need you in all sorts of ways.
All these roles are hard. Most are a lot harder than I ever expected.
I am so thankful that you are right here beside me, listening and guiding.
Please, Father, help me to hear your direction clearly. Help me as frustration and irritation push in on me. Guide me in pushing those things back and instead choosing joy, patience and faith. Help me to understand what I need to in order to embrace those ideals.
Thank you, Lord.
