Scripture: Titus 2: 4-5
4Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one can malign the word of God.
Observation:
Younger women should be trained (by older Christian women) the proper ways to serve their husband and family.
Application: My transition into motherhood was not an easy one to make. Sure, I wanted to become a mom, but the shift to homemaker and then mother was a tough one for me. I was happy at work and knew how to accomplish what needed to be accomplished there. Once I quit that job to stay home I felt lost and didn’t really know what to do or even understand why I was a little unhappy with the situation.
This passage is so comforting to me because I had to learn how to serve my husband better… and I am still learning. I am also learning every day how to be a better mom. I’m no longer striving for the textbook mom I might find in any book. Instead I’m continually asking the Lord to bring me Christian mom role models and examples so I can be the mom He intended for me to be as explained in the Book. And, thankfully, He has answered.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for the reassurance of this passage.
It makes me feel so much better about the feelings of confusion and frustration I used to have when I first became a mom and then also realized my role as a homemaker. I didn’t know what to do and I felt lost.
Thank you for sending a friend to invite me to join a moms’ group at church. And thank you for the wise Christian women you put in my path.
Pleas continue to send wise Christian women my way so that I can continue to learn and grow in the ways you would have me grow. And please use me when it is my time to help the moms and wives who come after me.
And please, Lord, send a Christian lady to all those moms who felt like I did and need a little help. Give them the refreshment and training they need… and guide them to see your truth, not Satan’s lies.
