Scripture:
2 Corinthians 10: 17
As the Scriptures say “The person who wishes to boast should boast only of what the Lord has done.”
Observation: Hmm. Easy to write, but I can slip on this one.
Application: Whenever I hear myself boasting, perhaps I should remind myself of why I am ABLE to boast. How did I come to be able to do whatever it is I might be boasting about? And, also, I should try to stay aware of when I am boasting and when I am simply sharing. And am I sharing in an appreciative way?
Prayer: Lord, stop me when I boast. Please bring this scripture to mind whenever I am sharing anything and help me decide… am I sharing to boast? Or sharing for another reason? And if I am boasting, am I boasting about you or me?
Thank for this reminder to keep my speech honoring of you and not honoring of myself.
