If you are reading the Proverbs in 31 Days with us, our reading for today is Proverbs 31.
Scripture: Proverbs 31:8
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
Observation:
Help those who need help and don’t know how to gain it on their own.
Application:
This stood out to me today. I wanted to go with a wife of noble character verse, but this just called me out me again and then again.
Human trafficking has been on my mind a lot lately. It saddens me to think of those children and also women caught up in the terror of being sold over and over and over against their will. I cannot even imagine how trapped and terrified they must feel. And I don’t know what to do about it. These are people who cannot speak for themselves. They need help. They need love. And I hate that I don’t know what to do, aside from pray and contribute to organizations that do know what to do.
I guess what I can do, though, is to work on the preventative end. Some children are kidnapped and forced into it and some run away and get sucked into it.
Our children need to know love. They need to have confidence. They need to be taught to be strong and not be manipulated by Satan and his evil forces.
What can I do right now? Empower my children with my love and the understanding of God’s love for them. Do what I can to prevent them from ever turning to the wrong place for encouragement. I can also be a positive force in other children’s lives, too.
Prayer:
Lord, please tell me what to do here. Show me how to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. Show me what you want me to do here. I know it is something, because this keeps coming back to me. Guide me, Lord. Clear my path and show me what it is I should do. I want this evil to stop and I want to help in the ways you want me to.
