Good morning from Las Vegas. I am here today for my second day of rehearsals before I speak at the IBM Insight conference tomorrow morning. I am pretty excited. I haven’t become nervous yet. Hopefully I will remain not nervous when I see the venue where I will be speaking later today. I’ve heard there will be 10-12,000 people in the audience. It’s certainly a great opportunity for my company and I’m thrilled to get to be a part of this. Today’s SOAP will be a great reminder for me as I prepare today and then again tomorrow morning before I get on that stage. Actually it’s a great reminder in many more cases than just those.
Here’s what grabbed me in Psalm 51 using SOAP:
Scripture: Psalm 51: 8
But I am like a green olive tree
in the house of God.
I trust in the steadfast love of God
forever and ever.
Observation:
True faith in the Lord will keep me calm, rooted and strong. I will trust in Him forever.
Application:
There are so very many ways in which this could be applied.
Right now, it reminds me that I should have complete faith in Him in the family stuff I mentioned yesterday, as well as my experiences here at Insight.
I should trust Him with everything and be confident that He has me. He will guide if I just follow and trust. When I remember that and trust completely, seeking Him for guidance, then I can be firm, rooted and confident in my steps.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for the opportunities you have prepared me for and placed in front of me. Thank you for the love that you have for me. Thank you for reminding me that, when I have complete faith in you, I will be calm. You have me. You will guide me. Your love is steadfast and you will provide as I need forever.
Thank you, God.
Please keep me calm as I prepare. Please keep me calm as I present and let my words fall on those whom you know should hear them. Help me to share our message and find the the right partners and resources. Please guide my steps. With you, there is no doubt I will follow the right path, wherever that may be. It’s in your hands, Lord. I trust you.
Lord, please guide my family at home, too. This verse reminds me that you have me there, too. Being away is hard. But you set this plan in motion long ago, and you would not have put me on it and taken me this far if it wasn’t your plan. I have consulted you. I have listened to you. I will not worry about my family because you have them, too. Help them to see you, hear you and follow you and also have confidence in your steadfast love, even when things get frustrating and confusing. Help each of them to remember that in weathering those frustrating and confusing times.
I love you, God. I want to be that green olive tree, rooted, calm, providing shade and peace to those around me, as I seek shade and peace from you. All it takes is complete faith. You will show me my steps. You will guide me. You are absolutely amazing and faithful.
Thank you, Lord.
