Happy weekend… and Days 6 & 7 of the New Testament in 40 Days!

It’s the weekend! Today your post is a two in one:

Today’s reading is Matthew 28- Mark 5 & Sunday’s Reading is Mark 6- Mark 10:34

I love how today’s reading begins with His resurrection and then we get to start all over again in Mark, with John the Baptist preparing the way. I don’t know about you, but I love reading the slightly different perspectives of the same stories back to back. The retelling helps me to remember them and also helps me see the humanity of the disciples in noticing and recording different aspects.

I hope you are finding yourself in a groove of reading by now. I’ve heard from a few of you of how this is fitting into your day or your evening. I love all of your notes of how you are making time for His Word, whether this be in addition to other studies, as your only study, in one reading time, in several a day or even in listening. I just love that we are all doing this together.

A few of you have sent questions and concerns about some of the things you are reading. Yes, there are some puzzling things things in our reading… and it is okay to be puzzled and bothered by them. Let them rub you. Then perhaps ask Him about them in prayer. Then keep reading and maybe journal about them when you’ve finished the day’s reading. And keep listening.

There is a lot here. You won’t understand it all now or even at the end of the reading, but you will gain so so much. Rest in that. Then pursue the things he pushes you to pursue.

Thanks so much for joining me.

Peace on your weekend,

  1. One thing I’m still surprised at is how many miracles Jesus performed, and how often he asked people to keep it to themselves.

In today’s oversharing social media age where very little is kept hidden, this 40 day journey seems like a good reminder that we should do more good things, for more Good people, and be satisfied that we don’t need to share our good deeds with everyone of our fans, followers and subscribers. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    1. Great observation and thought, Jeremy… so counter to what we are accustomed to doing.
I’m really glad you’re reading with us!
