Grace day, coming right up!
I’ve noticed some beautiful resolve in our group. A few of you seem to to be slipping behind, but determined to keep reading. I love that you are sticking to the reading and I love your honesty in checking in and letting us know how you are doing, even if you are behind on the schedule.
I LOOOOVE that you are still sticking to it, still reading, still spending time in the Word, listening to the Holy Spirit. This can be some TOUGH READING, y’all so reporting back every day is, in itself a challenge.
In honor of that challenge and in honor of the love of Christ and grace He showers over all of us every single day, I added a grace day on Tuesday.
If you are all caught up on your reading, use that day to look back at what we’ve read and what you have heard. If you are worried a day without reading forward will break your momentum, set a clock and read for 10 minutes and stop. If not, flip back, read here and there, then sit and silence, pray and listen.
If you are behind, take that day to spend some extra time catching up. This is not a race, but just know you’ve got an extra day. Rejoice in it. Soak in it. Read and hear Him. He’s there. He IS on every page.
An observation I made…. Honesty in business
Last week I was reading and, amid all the battles and the different kings, there was a quick story in 2 Kings 12 about temple workers:
“They did not require an accounting from those to whom they gave the money to pay the workers, because they acted in complete honesty.” 2 Kings 12:15
In the middle of all the kings, some really big messing up, some following God, we have this. I couldn’t help but smile and underline it. I have been working on a new project for VineSleuth/ Wine4.Me and I am trying to figure out one detail for tracking something with business partners. In talking it over with my lead developer, the day before I read this, we both decided that we would do the best we could, but that we were also planning to do business with people with whom we had firm relationships. In some ways we will have to have faith as we start… and know that those with whom we are working will be true.
Coming across this story was a beautiful salve to my soul.
They acted in complete honesty. Work with people whom you know will work with complete honesty. Don’t just work with anybody. Work with people you can trust. He’s going to guide me on that path…. for that to happen, though, I have to listen and follow His lead. I love it. God is so amazing.
I just had to share that with you because I found it to be super cool. I hope you are finding nuggets like this, treasures in the reading that reach out and nourish your soul. The Old Testament can be tough, but it also has beauty.
What about you? Did you find anything super cool in the reading this week? I’d love to hear about it if so. Please drop us a note in the comments and tell is all about it if so.
Alrighty! Here’s what’s up next…
