Whew! My morning was packed with a video call to someone in China followed by a video call with someone in South Africa followed by an in-person event in North Houston. I read and journaled this morning before all of that but it has taken me more than a minute to find the time to sit at my laptop and share with you.
So…. thank you for your patience!
Now I’m sitting outside in the shade, but still loving this glorious Texas sunshine.
So what did I hear today in Psalm 3?
Well, let me tell you…
The scripture that grabbed me the most was Psalm 3:3-4:
3 But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
4 I call out to the Lord,
and he answers me from his holy mountain.
The verses before and after these two talked about enemies circling, or at least being out there. And then this beautiful reassurance sat there, like a reassurance sandwich, reminding me that HE is my shield. That HE answers when I call. And He always answers in LOVE. (How much better can you get that all of that… really??)
So how can I apply this to my life?
Just remembering that is more than enough. He is there. He lifts my head high. He is my shield. That’s awesome stuff.
So when the things are looking bad, when I want to hang my head and give up, or when I am feeling lost, all I need to do is look to Him. He will answer me from his holy mountain. He will be there. No matter what anyone else is up to, He’s got me. And THAT is POWERFUL STUFF.
Will I always feel that warm hug and reassurance right away?
Nope.
But is IS up to me to pause, to pray and to listen expectantly. And He will be there… in the quiet or in the crazy… I just gotta listen.
Here’s my prayer:
Father God,
Thank you so so much for this reassurance that YOU ARE a shield all around me. That you lift my head up high, no matter how down and out I might feel. You, the Creator and Savior of the world, will answer me.
Thank you, Father for not only being all of those things and doing those things but for the reassurance of all of that. I am so grateful.
Please, Father, let all who see those words also embrace them and know you and your power. You are amazing and you offer such beautiful gifts. I don’t want anyone to miss them.
In Jesus name I pray,
Amen
Sweet friends, that prayer was for you. I do hope are able to embrace those words and know that He is there for YOU. Because He is.
Thank you for reading with me. If you know anyone who might benefit from reading those words, please invite them to read with us, too. Or if they (or you) are more of the video type, check out the video version of A Psalm A Day with MomsToolbox over on YouTube.
In Love,
