Scripture: Zechariah 10:1
Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime;
it is the Lord who makes the storm clouds.
He gives showers of rain to men,
and plants of the field to everyone.
Observation: I could be missing something here and this verse could be describing something deeper, but here is what I am hearing: Ask me for what you need and I will provide it. Even the stuff you take for granted. Just ask me.
Application: The Lord wants us to pray to him and ask for what we need rather than just assume it will be there. I think this one spoke out to me because I so often wonder whether I am bothering God or not when I ask about routine things. But perhaps this is a reminder that He wants us to ask and pray about everything… and in so doing grow our relationship and better understand our dependence on him.
Prayer: Oh Heavenly Father, I think you are reminding me here to ask and be thankful for your provision every day. And I think you are telling me that I am not at all bothering you. You want to hear from me. Thank you for all that you share with me and provide for me. Thank you for this reminder to be in prayer with you about everything… even the things I take for granted. Thank you for wanting to hear from me so much and not tiring of my requests.
