Day 53 of The Bible in 90 Days
Scripture: Isaiah 58: 2-4
2For day after day they seek me out; they seem eager to know my ways, as if they were a nation that does what is right and has not forsaken the commands of its God.
They ask me for just decisions and seem eager for God to come near them.
3‘Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘and you have not seen it? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you have not noticed?’
“Yet on your day of fasting, you do as you please and exploit your workers.
4Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked fists.
You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high.
Observation: So often they call for me and say they want to know me. Yet when it comes time to honor me they do not do it completely. How can they expect their requests be honored if they cannot truly follow me?
Application: I must be sure that all I do for God I do completely. I must honor him fully and with intention, not just as is convenient.
How can I expect Him to answer me and serve as my guide when I pick and choose what I want to accept and obey from Him?
Prayer: Please forgive me in the places you know of that I have fallen short in my worship of you and service to you.
I can be so easily distracted and fall off base.
Please guide me to see the distractions in my life as those: distractions instead of more opportunities. I see so many things I want to do and pile them on too heavily.
Guide me in seeing what is of you and what is not. And guide me in honoring, worshipping and serving you truly and completely as you desire.
Thank you Lord for your grace and forgiveness. I would REALLY be in trouble without it.
