Day 29 of the Bible in 90 Days
Scripture: 1 Chronicles 4:10
Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.”
Observation from all of today’s reading: God cares about the details and every single one of His children. Why else would so much care be taken to list all of these genealogies?
Observation on this verse in particular: Jabez asked the Lord for his blessing in enlarging his territory and keep him free from pain, and the Lord did bless him.
Application: Earlier this week one of the B90 readers sent a very kind note with a prayer that the Lord would enlarge my Bible in 90 Days territory. I was really moved by that and then, today, that verse was in our reading.
Her note made me think about what is happening with me and MomsToolbox.
MomsToolbox’s territory was certainly enlarged by the Bible in 90 Days promotion. When I launched the promotion, I hoped to have 20 or so readers reading the Bible along with me. Now I could safely guess there are 10 times that amount. It has been exciting. It has been a bit overwhelming and, I have to admit, it has been nice for my ego. And that’s where I need to go back and remember what my goals are.
I would love for God to enlarge my territory– but I want it to be for the right reasons. I want the Lord to use me to further His kingdom, I really do. When I launched this blog I had little idea of where I would go with it. When I bought the domain name eight years ago I just wanted to share mom tips, with maybe a little bit of spirituality in there.
Now, I want God to be my beacon and show me the way.
I need His help to keep me from getting distracted and thinking of how to grow MomsToolbox for growth’s sake and my ego, instead of focusing on serving Him only with my content and promotion. He’ll grow me where and how He wants to. I just need to seek His direction and follow it.
Prayer: Lord, enlarge my territory for you. Give me discernment and keep me from being distracted. You know why you gave me a gift of writing. Help me to use it for you and not selfish gain. Stop me when I begin to stray. Help me to remember this post and my many conversations with you about this.
Guide me in evaluating the motivation behind every post, every tweet and every action associated with MomsToolbox that they might all be honoring to you.
Guide me in serving you, my husband and my family before I move on and write about anything else just for fun. And please guide me in keeping even those posts honoring.
Please, Lord, enlarge my territory for you alone. And thank you so much for the honor of being used by you. It has been wildly exciting!
