Day 7 of the Bible in 90 Days
Scripture: Exodus 31:15
For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death.
Observation: Set aside the seventh day for rest and do not work on that day.
Application: I have written about this before and attempted to get all my ‘work’ done the 6 other days of the week so that I could recharge and reflect on Sundays. But I am not so good at that.
Yes, later in the bible we will learn that Jesus performs miracles on the Sabbath day , so there is some ‘work’ that is permitted.
However I am going to try to take baby steps and make this commitment: I will not blog on Sundays.
There will not be any new content on those days (unless it is previously scheduled) because I will spend the time focused on God and my family as best I can. I will certainly do my Bible reading. And I might even journal my SOAP observations in a notebook, but I am going to try my hardest to take Sundays as a break from blogging and blog reading.
Prayer: Lord, today’s reading is filled with lots of details and laws and specifics. There are bound to be lots of questions for those reading… for the first time or for the 17th time. Please, Lord, speak to each of us individually and give us what you want us to take from these passages. Give us the understanding we need and let us move on with the rest.
Thank you for this reminder to relax, recharge and refocus. Please guide me and strengthen me to hold true to this recommitment to your Sabbath. And guide me in honoring you in all days.
Thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to serve you. Guide me, please, in serving you only in a way that is pleasing to you.
