Scripture: 2 Kings 17:41
Even while these people were worshipping the Lord, they were serving their idols. To this day their children and grandchildren continue to do as their fathers did.
Observation: Although they were instructed not to, the people did not worship God alone, they also served other things.
Application: Am I serving the one true God alone… or am I also letting other idols take away some of my focus?
Prayer: Lord, please guide me in recognizing the idols in my life and eradicating them.
Recently you have been stirring my heart and bringing to mind some reprioritizing I need to do. Please, Lord, guide me on YOUR path, not mine.
You have allowed me to use this blog to reach so many for you. Please keep me on that path and don’t let me deviate in way that is not your will for me.
Please help me to seek your guidance and follow it every time… not after I do this one tiny little thing that I justify that you might want me to do. Instead guide me in doing with my time what I KNOW you would want me to do.
Please continue to use me to do what it is you have in store for me to do. Guide me in prayerfully considering my every next move, every next post, every next use of my time.
Give me your perspective, not my worldly one which is in the moment.
I want to serve you alone. Please guide me in doing just that and recognizing and casting out any idols that get in the way.
And Lord, I also ask that you guide all who may be reading this as they look at their own lives. Help them to recognize any idols they may be worshipping and cast them out in favor of serving you alone. For you are the mighty God, Savior, Creator of Heaven and Earth. What could be greater than serving you alone?
