Today my SOAP entry comes from a combined reading of day 17 and 18.
I read much of yesterday’s reading today.
Scripture: Joshua 22:5
But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: to love the Lord your God, to walk in his ways, to obey his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and all your soul.
Observation: This commandment has been repeated several times over the past few days’ readings. Consequently, I have to believe that God really wants to make sure I hear it.
Application: I don’t know about you, but, quite often, it is really easy for me to let my priorities or perspective slip and then forget what it is that I am supposed to be doing.
God wants me to keep my focus on Him and to love him and serve him completely. Yet often I put other things before him.
Prayer: Lord, this week I really felt myself slipping a bit from serving you alone.
Thank you for this reminder once again to hold fast to you and serve you wholeheartedly. Guide me as I evaluate my motives for all my actions. And, please Lord, keep them pure. I want to serve you alone.
