#B90Days Week 2 resources, linky & check in

Congratulations, Bible in 90 Days readers!

You have made it to week two and I am so very, very proud of each and every one of you. Yes, even those of you who are not up to date on your reading (yet), because, obviously, you are still committed to this challenge and want to read the entire Bible with us before Thanksgiving. Now THAT’S something to be thankful for… right??

So how is it coming? Is it harder or easier to make the time to read than you expected? Is the Bible more exciting to read than you thought it would be? It’s sure got some drama in there and is definitely page-turning at parts, in my opinion.

This time I’m shaking things up and reading chronologically, which is taking some getting used to, but I do love it.

For those who are reading chronologically, thanks for all your patience with the rocky start. This is the first time we’ve done it this way, compared to the nearly ten years experience I have in helping people read it cover to cover with the Bible in 90 Days ministry, so I’m learning as I go and am so thankful for a dedicated team of volunteers helping every step of the way.

I’ll try to keep this short and jump in to the resources so you can get back to your reading of the Bible, okay?

Required check in

Have you checked in with your mentor this week? Please do so, whether you are on track or struggling or even just slacking. Drop her a note and let her know what’s going on. She’s praying for you and wants to help. Plus, ignoring someone who is committed to your success just isn’t nice, so reach out and say hello, okay? And, by the way, checking in weekly is a requirement of the program. How else can we keep you accountable when we don’t have weekly in person meetings?

Optional check in

Want to shout out to the rest of the group? Checking in here on MomsToolbox each week with a comment is optional (unlike checking in with your mentor which is required), so feel free to leave a comment anytime, but especially on the weekly check in posts like this one. I’d love to hear how the reading is going for you and pray for you, so leave me notes here so I can help and encourage you, too. Plus, as you look over these comments, please reply to someone else’s comment (or three) and pray for your fellow readers.

Link up

Are you blogging about your reading? Feel free to link up your post below so we can read more about your experience. Please leave a link directly to your most recent Bible in 90 Days post in the link tool and link back to this post in your own post, so your readers can see what others are experiencing.

You are Here in the Bible

Need an overview of what you are reading each week? Ted Cooper, who developed the original Bible in 90 Days program, has given me permission to share You are Here in the Bible, a great resource to keep at hand when reading the Bible at this pace. It will explain new terms, introduce you to people in the books you are reading and give a little historical perspective. The best thing is that it will keep you from going down bunny trails researching and instead keep you reading.

Tweet up!

Are you on Twitter? Consider encouraging other readers by tweeting using the #B90Days hashtag.

Join us every Monday night (except Labor Day) from 8-9 Central to discuss the reading and encourage other Bible in 90 Days readers. Julie of Dutch Being Me is our gracious Twitter hostess this session. And here is a little secret about Julie.. She is the only member of our team who is not a Bible in 90 Days graduate… yet. So tweet with her and cheer her on as she is determined to get you and she through every page of the Bible.

That’s about it for now. So…. How was your first week of reading? Tell me all about it. :)

  1. I never heard from a mentor but I am continuing here. The reading and understanding for me this second time around is very special. I only made to the NT last fall and stopped. (For some reason I felt I’d read the NT alot more than the OT) Gonna give it my all this time.

    1. Oh yikes! I’m sorry you haven’t heard from a mentor. Did you register with us by filing out the form? I’d love to get you hooked up with a group!
(Send me an email at amy (at) momstoolbox (dot) com to let me know… okay?
And I am so very proud of you for jumping back in again. I just prayed for you to finish with us this time. :)

  2. I fell behind a few days and just today finally got caught up. I had a really hard time with Leviticus. Did anyone else have trouble?

    1. OH gosh yes! Last fall I did. Then one day it was an interesting thing. I realized I was learning that these books names are really related to what was happening. Having been raised in the Meth. Church all my life, how did I miss this??? Guess that proves, I am never too old to learn. (60 now)

      1. Leviticus is tough, but you just gotta plow through. ;)

  3. I spent my time playing catch up, but hoping to be all caught up this week!

    1. How is it coming? Are you caught up yet?

Up to date so far doing the cover-to-cover plan using the ESV, a version I haven’t read before. Next time, I’d like to try the chronological plan. Thanks for hosting this!

    1. I am doing this the second time cover-to-cover and this time I am commited to finishing. I ordered the Bible In 90 Days Bible and find it very easy to carry everywhere. Interesting, and sad, that I did not do that with my other Bibles.

    2. Way to go! And you are so welcome– thanks for reading! :)

This is my first time ever reading through the whole bible! I am reading chronologically. So far it’s been great. I am a fast reader so it doesn’t take too much time! I’m so excited! Praying the lord will give everyone and myself the strength to finish! Thank you so much for this awesome challenge! I NEVER would have thought I could do this!

    1. Ashley, awesome! You sound so excited. I am proud of you and for you.

    2. Fantastic!
I am reading chronologically this time, too and I find the reading to be flying by.

I’m not part of a group this time around. I did the 90 Days challenge and graduated last Fall :) I am now working through the chronological timeline and love it. Thanks for giving us this option..

    1. You are so welcome! Thanks for stopping by to leave an encouraging note. :)

It’s my first time with the chronological plan also. I’m enjoying the change! I downloaded the Kindle version and it’s so much easier to keep up with.

    1. Great idea, Jane! Thanks for leaving that tip. :)

  8. Doing well keeping up with Chronological reading. Useing my Chronological bible helps lots.

    1. I have never heard of a Chronoloogical Bible. Where did you get it?

    2. I absolutely agree that using the chronological Bible is a HUGE help!!!

  9. I fell behind yesterday (oh the weekends!)… but am determined to do nothing else on my lunch hour today and after work until I’m caught up (Before the tweet-up, of course.) Plan for next week? Read a bit ahead before the holiday weekend.

    1. that’s a good idea. I got behind last year during Labor Day vacation.

    2. I was so glad to see your tweet you are all caught up! You GO, girl!! :)

I’m half a day ahead – HALLELUJAH! Mostly because I read ALL of Job this past Friday (I’m doing the chronoological plan). Good thing, too, because I wasn’t ablle to get any reading done this abnormally crazy-busy weekend! Blessings to you, Amy, and to all of your readers and mentors! Let Week 2 ocmmence!

    1. Wa-HOOO! I’m so proud of you! And thankful for you, too! :)

  11. Thank you so much for making this available Amy! I finished the first time January -March of this year and am so blown-away by the experience.

    1. Fantastic! Thanks for letting me know– and for reading! :)

  12. I’m reading cover to cover for my second time. My first time was this past January-March. I am super excited to pick up more the second go at it. However, now that I know somewhat what to expect, I am kind of dreading these few days in Leviticus. ;P So, I am glad that you posted the You are Here in the Bible link because having that background information and connection helps make it more bearable. ;)

    1. For me, I am dreading Ezekiel. But I know God will see us through those hard parts! My favorite is the moment we get to the New Testament and it’s like knowing it is all downhill and we are going to make it! You can do it!!!!

      1. Wa-HOOOOO! Love that page turn to the NT!!

    2. I am glad the resources will help! Ted is so generous to allow me to share them with you. :)

I’m reading Chronologically for the first time. It does seem a litle odd to me when we got to Job and just skipped over Exodus, etc. But I am excited to see what God has to show me on this 90 day journey. I find it easier to break it up into sections throughout my day than to do it all at once. It seems I get more distracted when I’ve been reading for a long time. Almost caught up.

    1. Fortunately for me I sit in the carline to pick up my grandson at school everyday now and that gives me one hour of totally uninteruppted time to read my Bible. It really soaks in with no distractions.

      1. Great way to use that time!!

    2. I agree that it takes a bit of getting used to. :) Keep it up!

I’m reading chronologically, and it has been easier then I expected, but I’m using an online Bible so I think that helps! I’m also reading from a different version then my normal NKJV, so with a click of the mouse I can read the same verses in the NKJV if I’m not sure about the translation or meaning of something :)

    1. I love reading on my iPhone! I do think using an online Bible or phone Bible is definitely easier. I can read anywhere! I want to read chronologically next time, so I am following everyone’s experience closely. :)

    2. I might try this when I do the 90 days next time. Thanks for sharing about the online Bible and how it helps.

I’m actually a bit ahead as I was home sick most of the week so did some reading ahead. My husband has been spending time reading a book on theology so have been able to get lots of reading time in.

    1. Hope you’re feeling better Debi, but maybe this ‘sickness’ was just what you needed, at the time you needed it, to get you into reading the Bible this way. God’s timing maybe?

    2. I hope you are feeling better– and are still reading. :) (Way to use that time!!)
