Bible in 90 Days Day 18

Ya’ll, we are plugging right along… can you believe how far we have already come?!

All you first-timers: Have you ever made it this far into the Bible? And second-and-more-timers:  How does it feel for you, too?

I am so proud of each and every one of you for jumping into this challenge. I am doing my best to work through all the comments and emails and respond as best I can, so, if you haven’t heard from me yet, please bear with me and know that I am trying.

Stay strong, keep reading and don’t give up. It will be SO worth it!

Okay… on with today’s reading:

Day 18

Reading: Judges 3:28-15:12

I hope you’ll forgive me, but I don’t have a SOAP post for today’s reading. So why don’t you tell me… What verses really stood out to YOU from today’s reading? And why do you think they stood out to you?

  1. I’m a first timer, and no, I have never made it this far reading! I have read some things I never knew were in there, and I grew up in church!

I never realized this, and it was several days’ reading ago, but did anyone catch the fact that Joseph was trying to see if his brothers would betray Benjamin by doing the things he did to them? Am I a total ditz and miss this completely? One of my pastors preached about “Hope Deferred” last night and used Jacob and Joseph in his message (which I thought was perfect timing for me, anyway!) and brought this up. Did everyone else catch that but me?

    1. I grew up in church too and I’m amazed by how much I’m reading that I never knew was in the Bible. Further, I’m amazed by how much of my Bible thought was formed by movies like The Ten Commandments and The Bible. Sad but true…

I’m so glad that I’m sharing this experience with all of you and I’m proud of us for making it this far!

  2. I have NEVER made it this far in the bible EVER! I am so thankful to God for this challenge!

  3. I’ve never made it this far and I am so, so, so excited! Thank you for this ministry, Amy!!!

I posted a SOAP for today on my blog about Judges 6:27: “So Gideon took ten of his servants and did as the LORD told him. But because he was afraid of his family and the townspeople, he did it at night rather than in the daytime.”

It’s a little long so I won’t post the whole thing here but if you’re interested, please stop over! Thanks for inviting to join in like this.

  4. We are going to make it!! :) I love this time of year!! :)

  5. SOAP for today.
Judges 10:16 “Then they got rid of the foreign gods amoung them and served the Lord. And he could bear Israel’s misery no longer.”

Have you ever punished your child and in their own humility they came to you and apologized with genuine sincerly, so much so that it broke your heart? The abounding and unending love God has for us is unfathomable. And yet in this verse, my heart aches for the Lord. I understand that misery, because I have felt it too, with my own child. Imagine that you feel that same misery for millions and billions of people all at one time! His grace absoluetely amazes me. I would have crumpled thousands of years ago under that kind of sorrow and heart break.

Thank you Lord for your Grace, because it is only through your mercy that I have HOPE. Amen.

    Have a blessed day All!

P.S. It’s amazing how God works. Yesterday when I was reading this chapter, I took the time to highlight this verse and really mull over it. I haven’t done that one time in this entire journey so far, not with any verse, in any chapter, or any book. I’m certain God wanted me to write the SOAP for the day and he chose the verse!

    1. A wonderful SOAP devotional, Shawna! Thanks for sharing. You made the verse come alive for me.
