If you are participating in the Bible in 90 Days challenge, today you are on Day 53 and should have read through the end of page 636 in the Bible in 90 Days Bible or through Isaiah 66:18.
This week Monica from Daily Dwelling shares her thoughts and experiences on reading the Bible in 90 Days…
I was sitting in the recliner in our sunroom reading when I heard the pitter-patter of little feet coming downstairs.
It was one of my four year old daughters, coming down for some cuddle time.
I welcomed her to climb into my lap and readjusted my Bible in 90 Days book so that I could hold her and still continue my reading.
She sat for a long time without saying anything.
And then she started to talk and squirm.
And I continued my attempt to finish the day’s reading.
Then she looked over at the book that I was balancing and asked, “What book is that? What is it about?”
I replied by telling her that I was reading the Bible.
And then I explained to her that the Bible is about God’s love for us.
It hit me as I began to simply explain this to my four-year old sitting in my lap that the reason why this time has been so important is because it has given me a true feel for what the Bible as a whole is really about.
There are days when it is hard to take in so much in one sitting…
Days when I want to dissect God’s word and examine it more.
Days when I want to focus on just one verse or one small passage.
Days when reading twelve whole pages of God’s Word seems like a monumental task.
But through persevering through those days and continuing on this journey I have read over half of the Bible straight through.
I have seen the failures of man and God’s forgiveness demonstrated time and time again.
I have gotten a feel for the whole message of the Bible….for what it is really all about:
God’s unconditional, unwavering, undeniable love for each and every one of us.
And I am excited to continue this journey as I continue reading and learning about God’s love through the prophecies of the Old Testament and then on into the New Testament where Christ is born, lives as man, is crucified, buried and resurrected all so that we may receive the forgiveness that none of us really deserve.
