So, my dear Bible in 90 Days readers, how is it coming now that we are launching into week 3? I hope you are doing well and I can’t wait to read about your progress. I pray for each of you as I respond to your comments and I love that time.
From experience in hosting this online and in person, I would guess that for some of you, the reading has formed into a great habit and for others it is getting tougher and tougher to fit everything into your schedule that you would like to. If you are having trouble, think of what can be set aside until October. How you can re-work your schedule to meet your priorities? I wrote this post about getting frustrated and keeping up during our last online read. Swing by and give it a read if you think you need a little push.
For those of you finding it easier, what have you moved or given up to spend more time with God?
If you are up to date, you should have read through page 180 in the Bible in 90 Days Bible or to Deuteronomy 34:12.
At the end of this post I will invite to share your progress with us. Please leave a comment letting us know where you are in the reading, whether you are caught up, racing to catch up or even feeling a bit frustrated. For more on check-in posts, please see this post. Bloggers, you are invited to share your progress with a comment or a link to your own blog post in the linky.
But first we have a few words from Wanda, who has truly embraced this challenge for quite some time. But I’ll let her tell you all about that…
My name is Wanda Shepherd, I live in northern Alberta, Canada, and I was pretty excited when Amy asked me to guest post on Mom’s Toolbox! Thanks, Amy! I have been a huge fan of reading the Bible from cover-to-cover ever since I became a follower of Jesus Christ in 1981. I am currently on my 46th reading, and am finding that participating in the Bible in 90 Days Challenge has significantly enhanced my reading experience. A community adventure is always more fun than flying solo!
One of the things that I really like about reading the Bible through time after time — and why I keep on reading this way — is because I like having a working familiarity with Scripture. When someone mentions a passage, I generally know where it is, because I’ve read it so many times.
I think it’s also helped me develop a more complete and mature theology, because I know what the whole Bible says, instead of just parts of John or Psalms or Proverbs.
Because I’ve read the Bible through so many times, I find that I can quote passages from memory without having deliberately memorized anything. A terrific by-product of all that reading!
This has always been something that I have been passionate and motivated about, and so I find that reading the Bible is its own reward. I like finishing my daily reading, and I like completing a cycle.
But the main reason why I love reading the Bible through is because it is God’s revelation. That revelation is progressive as God reveals more and more about Himself, His ways and His plans. If God says something in John, you have to know that it’s not something new, it’s built upon what He has said and done before, from Genesis on.
It’s an amazing Book, because He is an amazing God, and I look forward to sharing our great adventure of reading through it together!
Inspired? I sure am!!
You can read more from Wanda at her blog, In Search of Manna.
But before you hop over there, let us know how you are doing! We want to pray for you! If you are participating in the linky, don’t forget to link back to this post in your own post so your readers can read more about the program.
And don’t forget to join us tonight on Twitter from 8-9 CST using the #B90Days hashtag. If you are new to the #B90Days Twitter parties, please take a moment to review our party guidelines.
The linky and comments will close at 2 a.m. Monday night/Tuesday morning. Be sure to leave a comment or link up here before then.

I’m a few days behind, but I’m going to try to clear my schedule for the rest of the day and catch up.
I’m behind a couple of days, but I’m determined to catch up. I’m bringing my Kindle with me everywhere now so I can use any available extra time to catch up!
I’m completely up to date! Amazing considering my 4 year old has been sick with a 103.9 temperature for half of one day and the lingering effects, and my two year old is up until 1 every morning. Needless to say, I’m so happy I received the post from Amy a couple of weeks ago telling us that we need to prepare to give up something in order to make room for these readings. I generally read mystery books before I go to sleep when it’s (normally) quiet in our home, but instead am reading my Bible. Just making this shift in my thought process has been super helpful. My husband has been very supportive in seeing I have the quiet time I need at night so I can stay on task, but we’ve had a couple of nights where I’ve been reading at 2 am and he’s been with a child. With everything the Lord has done for me, reading just 12 pages of His Words is really a small task for me to offer to Him so I can learn more about Him and what it is I can do to be a better Christian. That being said, it’s not always easy, but I can’t believe how much I’m getting out of this experience. Thanks again, Amy!
Fell behind two days this weekend because I had too much fun with my out of town guests. We stayed up til 1am each night so I was SO sleepy and didn’t get up at my usual 7:30am reading. :( Trying to catch up today.
I’m loving my reading, but have fallen behind due to birthdays, out of state family visiting, etc. Hope to get somewhat caught up this week. I’m still in Leviticus.
hey everyone! don’t give up if you are behind schedule. the ultimate purpose is to READ and any bit you do is awesome. God will honor that desire to know more about Him and his Word.
monica – on target, but not done today’s reading let. I best get off the computer!
I am ahead a bit. I started on July 1st and am currently in I Kings. I am so loving reading the Bible like this. It is totally changing my perspective on some of the stories and concepts that I am reading.
I am a little behind, but have been able to catch up before, so I am not worried. I get on these reading kicks and read extra on most days. This weekend was just a little hectic. I am really enjoying this experience!
I love Wanda’s thoughts! I’ve always loved Bible study, but I’m seeing more and more the value of simply *reading* straight through also.

I was a couple of days ahead last week knowing it would be hard to read during the week-long festivities for my sister’s wedding. Sure enough, I am now a few days behind, but I’m not too worried. I think (and pray!) that I’ll be able to catch up by next Monday!
I am so far behind. I am reading Exodus right now.
I accidentally subscribed to comments of a post rather than the main blog. So I didn’t see the new posts about starting to read. And I completely forgot…
I just started reading on the 15th. I hope to catch up. But I have three tiny children, so reading time is somewhat limited.
I am so enjoying reading the Bible :) I have never sat down and read through cover to cover before.
Happy reading everyone!
Amy – I’m up to date!! I am so, so enjoying Deuteronomy. I love how God constantly reiterates that following His ways results in blessing and choosing our own way results in “death”.
I have been starting the reading as soon as I wake up in the mornings; then I read a bit on our way to work (my husband and I carpool); then I finish up at lunch or on the way home from work. It’s had such a significant impact on me…..having God’s Word in front of me all throughout the day.
I’m still a couple of days behind, but I’m sticking with it. I love it!! My biggest challenge is finding a consistent time to read. I would like to do it first thing in the morning, but with three young children at home (and a baby that still wakes up at night), every day looks completely different. I’m fitting in when I can, but would really like to figure out a time I can read every day so I can get into a routine.
I had caught up last week but am behind again. I’ve been having trouble during the week keeping up but have been playing catch up on the weekend. We were really busy at work last night so I didn’t have time to read anything. Hoping to catch up by Wednesday.
I’m caught up and then some. I will be reading day 21 today. So glad that I’ve been adding a little extra here and there – I find that it’s hard to put it down at times.
I am still struggling to catch up from being sick…I was within 1/2 day of reading, but now 2 days behind. I will have some downtime tonight and tomorrow night so I hope to be caught up by the weekend. I am still reading every day and thanks to Kindle on my cell phone, I am reading in downtime at work as well.
I am so grateful to be on this journey and to see that everyone is in different places and not just me off the pace. That was a great fear of mine.
Thank you, Amy & friends, for your posts, emails and your motivation!
Joline
I’m sorry I didn’t check in last week. I had a hard time finding the check-in place. I kept checking http://www.momstoolbox.com when I should have checked the blog at http://www.momstoolbox.com/blog
Anyhoo, I hope my name is still listed as a participant.
I was a little ahead, but at this point I find I actually got a bit behind.
Today I begin Deuteronomy 31.
Thank you so much for this challenge. I am really enjoying it.
Hmmm. I wonder why you had trouble with Momstoolbox.com. When you go there it should take you right to the blog. I know it does for me. Glad you found us this time! And keep up the good reading!
I was on vacation last week, but I caught completely up on the trip home from Florida to North Carolina yesterday and I am one day ahead again. Hopefully this week I will catch up my blog with my observations that I have come across while reading.
(Amy’s readers, I started about a month ahead). I am starting Isaiah today. I’m a little nervous because I know it’s going to be a lot to take in!
I’m where I should be according to the B90 schedule on their web site, though I suppose I’m technically a little behind since I am doing Psalms and Proverbs bit by bit.
I feel like I’m losing my momentum a little. I want to regain it, since I’m a little over the halfway point and I want to keep on going!
I am up to date, and excited to say I haven’t missed a day yet, even on our family vacation last week. I was really worried about finding time to read while we were away. I am currently on Day 31. I checked in with a blog post on Mr. Linky above.
Checking in before I forget. :) I’m still behind by 3ish days, but caught up A LOT this weekend – and am definitely encouraged that, while I am not reading what everyone else is right now, I am reading. That’s what it’s all about!
I want to be Wanda!
I started a week late, but I’m trying to stay with the group and then go back and read what I missed the first week (we were on vacation the week of the 5th and it was crazy busy.) I have read through the Bible a few times using the year method, but this is the first time I have read with the 90 day program. I am enjoying it, but finding a good hour or more is definitely harder than I had previously thought. Reading how Wanda has read through the Bible 45 times has spurred me on to be more intentional with my time. Thanks for the accountability.
Checking in, but not feeling very great about it! I spent awhile trying to catch up last night but still am an entire book behind. We had a week of some planned things, but a lot if serious unplanned things & for one reason or another I didn’t stick to the plan. I feel bad for letting the group I’ve got together down by not reading or blogging. Hoping to play catch up today big time!
Still a few days behind, but determined to keep going and catch up!
I’m caught up, except of course still working on today’s. It’s going well and I’m loving it even more this second time around! Hope to join in tonight!
If you have a minute to pray for us, my husband is having knee surgery & my mom is having heart surgery tomorrow. Stressful week! Thanks!
Up to date and continuing on. It has been hard at times but doable for me. My children are grown and only a 19 year old at home so I can take the time in the evenings to do this. I will be praying for those of you with young ones. I remember how hard any quiet time was when mine were young. I have been printing off the day’s reading from Biblegateway every morning. Reading it like that makes it not seem so hard. My older daughter is due any day to give us a grandson so I may really have to do s0me juggling when the call to head to the hospital comes.
Doing miserably =(
I had so many interruptions last week that I totally forgot to sign in, until it was already too late.
I was getting very behind, praise the Lord, I am up to date. I even commented on my blog….I did learn a good valuable lesson. I must be vigilant, I must be read…. this echos how I must be looking at the sky for His glorious return.
For those of you are behind, remember you are not alone, I too got very behind. Don’t give up, you will catch up.
Blessings,
Katia
I’m about a day and a half behind today. We had a very busy weekend and I didn’t schedule enough time to read! My lunch break today is dedicated for catching up so I should be on track for tonight’s Tweet gathering! Please pray for all of us who are behind…
In Christ,
I was able to keep up over the weekend, which is an improvement from last week. I’m about half way through today’s reading. This week will be a challenge with VBS every evening (and work every day).
I’m not doing this challenge but wanted to stop by to see how others were doing. Reading it through in just 90 days seems like such an ambitious goal to me! I enjoyed Wanda’s post above and will certainly visit her blog. That’s so cool that she’s read it so much that she recognizes passages without actually memorizing them!
I’ m right on schedule! I can’t believe it but it’s true. It’s been slow going through these OT books, so much to take in and a bit too much repetitiveness for my taste but God knows what’s important! I’ve been doing most of my reading at night after the kids are in bed – peace and quiet.
Keep up the good work everyone!
Sabrina
I am so glad that I am not the only person who is behind! I hope we can all get caught up!!! I really want to be able to say that I did it at the end of 90 days! Keep plugging away!
Monique
Due to family coming in from out of town this weekend, and a jam packed weekend away from the house….I am a few days behind, but I am hopeful that I will be able to catch up today or tomorrow! I have been so encouraged by the reading I am doing. I am so happy that I have this goal of reading through the entire Bible. I have not done so since being a Bible College Student and its really gotten me back in the habit of daily Bible reading. Thank you Amy for the encouragement you have been!
Well, I am BEHIND in the readings, I am continuing to get done what I can. I am enjoying the reading and excited about learning something new.
I’m so excited about reading the Bible through….I have always wanted to do it but just never could.I did’nt understand it so I would put it down and not think a lot about it.Since my daughter told me about B90 and ask me to do it with her now it is hard to put it down.It is like I’m reading a story.making so much since to me.Thank you Jennifer for asking me to join you….Im staying on track and sometimes a day ahead.Keep praying for me…..
I’m caught up but found getting yesterday’s reading done pretty hard! I think I was intimidated by how many chapters it was. I haven’t done today’s reading yet (will after work today).
I did my Sat reading first thing Sat morning – that was a good idea! Sunday I still don’t have a good plan for, though. I always prep to teach Sunday School before church on Sun morning, and after church I visit my mom and 6 yo nephew, and by 2pm I’m ready for a nap, not reading!
I’ll keep working on that one. I thought about reading double on Sat but I really feel the Lord telling me to keep it as a daily reading.
Blessings!
Let my Kindle battery die last night, so I’m a day behind. I’ll be caught up by tomorrow, I hope!
Up to date here! I missed one day last week and easily caught back up. I am truly enjoying the commitment it takes to make this Bibl reading a part of my day. :)
Staying on track! Early morning reading is best for me – otherwise the day gets away from me.
Checking in….my reading is going great!!!
I am almost done with Saturday’s reading:) Its been hard to get more than a couple mnutes free at a time without someone interrupting me. Sometimes I am interrupted between verses. Since I’m up early, I’ll get some reading done to focus on God, just before going to Family Camp. My goal is to be caught up by the next check in.
I’am 4 days behind. last week was a tough wk for me – got colds & flu, 2 days power outage, and then required to work Saturday & Sunday for physical inventory.
I will do my best to catch up this week.
I made it through day 1… LOL. Since I was reading chrono with my DH, Deuteronomy was a refresher. But it took me ALL day to get it done with the kids awake! Aye aye aye. But anything worthwhile… Anyway, here’s to week 3. Thanks so much!

I am caught up! Whew. Barely. It’s happened a few times that I’ve read two days in one, but so far, haven’t let the sun set on two days of backreading.
Thanks for praying. Pray that my mouse issue is solved soon. Total evidence of the Fall, I’m sure.
Falling miserably behind and had pretty much decided to give up, but was inspired by reading Kara’s post above. This week my 3 1/2 year old has a soccer camp at the YMCA, so I am going to take my 1 yr old to the child care and try to use the time to catch up on my reading!
So glad you are not giving up!
Consider bringing headphones with you while you read but don’t turn on any music… that way you won’t be tempted to start a conversation with the other moms instead of reading, and everyone will think you are listening to music, so they will leave you reading, too. :)
You can do this!! It WILL be worth it!
Still a little behind…but loved the testimony in your post! I would love to be able to memorize scripture to call up from memory that easily – I think it would really benefit me
