Bible in 90 Days Grads: How does it feel to be finished?

Now that we are beyond day 100 of our most recent Bible in 90 Days session, I just have to ask all the grads out there:

How does it feel to be finished?

And for those who are still reading:

How are YOU doing? When is your goal to be finished?

If you haven’t finished and intend to, my suggestion is to set a new goal, divide your pages remaining by the days until your goal and go for it. I  know you can do this if you want to and I so so so very much want you to finish!!

But, back to the grads…

I’d love to hear more about your experience. How DOES it feel to be finished?

I know a lot of people have this amazing sense of accomplishment, and then struggle with what to do next. If you are in that boat, you are not alone.

I lot of grads celebrate with gifts to themselves, celebratory dinners cooked by their spouse or children or even a special night at a restaurant. One mom made medals for her children who finished. And some just start right over at the beginning and do it again.

How has it been for you? How have you marked your moment of achievement?

I’d love to hear how the experience went for you… did you want to give up? What kept you on track? And what are your next plans?

(For anyone looking to jump into a reading plan, I’ll be re-launching the Proverbs in 31 Days in just a few days.)

  1. It felt like one of the major accomplishments of my life the day I finished. The next day, however, I felt lost…like, what do I do now??? It seems silly…I’m a 40 year old (almost!) woman…do I really need someone hanging over me telling me to read my Bible everyday??? Apparently so! I’m so motivated to start the Proverbs 31 Challenge! Thanks, Amy!

  2. I did not think I could do this. As a matter of fact, lots of people told me that it was impossible to read The Bible in 90 days and come away with anything. The fact is I retained a lot of information, much more than I imagined. My mindset is changed, in a way that is difficult to describe.

Would I do this again? Absolutely!

It feels great! Church has been a lot more meaningful too- every time the pastor tells us what scripture we’re reading I’m able to remember what it was like to read it in context. It’s been fun to talk to my husband about it. It’s inspired me to help my kids develop a better Bible reading habit. And I’ve decided to read the Bible cover to cover again, this time in chronological order. A friend is doing it with me. Thanks so much for sponsoring such a wonderful event!

    1. Fantastic, Jennifer! I am so glad you read with us… and are continuing to read. :)

  4. It feels amazing to be finished! After reading through the Bible so quickly, and also having read through it a couple of times before, I feel that I’m finally getting a good familiarity with the Bible – where certain passages are, where books are, what’s in various books, etc.

But now I’m not entirely sure what to read next! Recently I’ve been reading from portions of Psalms, a Gospel, and an NT epistle every day. There isn’t much rhyme or reason to it, I’m just going book by book. I’m enjoying it, of course, but the lack of structure is a bit weird after the past 90 days!

    1. I am so excited for you and thrilled that you see how much you took from your reading experience. It is amazing how much does stick. :)

I’ll get another reading schedule posted very soon– life has just been getting in the way of posting it! I will confess that after reading B90, it is a challenge to find another reading plan to take its spot.

  5. For me, the coolest thing about reading through the Bible in 90 days was that it sparked such an interest to learn more. I have read through the Bible completely, cover to cover, once before – several years ago, but doing so in such a short amount of time made this experience unique.

First, it gave me a new discipline. I must admit, I didn’t read at the same time each day, or for the same duration. However, I did learn to commit to spending chunks of time mostly every day to reading the Word. I learned to carry my Bible with me wherever I go, and find time throughout the day to read a little more.

Second, it sparked an interest in me to really understand how Bible history all fits together. I was left with many questions along the way, but didn’t stop to ponder many of them. There would be time for that later. I saw the big picture of the Bible, but wondered how it fit together chronologically. I wondered about early civilzation’s cultures and why different events happened or were significant. I wondered how I might see stories differently if I understood the traditions of that time period a little better. But still, I pressed on to meet my goal.

Third, I enjoyed being part of a group. It inspired me to keep going knowing that a real person was praying for me and checking my progress.

So, when I hit the NT, I happened to be in a Christian bookstore and saw a Bible that reorders the Bible in chronological order AND has lots of notes about Bible history. I didn’t get it then, but kept thinking about that Bible and how I would love to go back and spend more time finding answers to the questions I asked as I was going through. About halfway through the NT, my husband bought me that Bible. I brought it home and left it in the bag on my dresser, where I would see it every day. It would be my reward for finishing and remained in the bag until I turned the last page and read those words…”The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.”

    1. Thanks for sharing this, Tawnya.
I am glad you have plans to continue your read and dig in deeper. For me, reading this way always answers new questions… and yet brings on more. But to finish, you really cannot stop to check them all out and find answers. Your plan to dig in is a great one.

Thanks so much for reading with us. And thanks for your thoughts here.
