Bible in 90 Days Week 3 Check in Post

Welcome to the Week 3 Check in Post!

Near the end of this post, please find your group, click on it and leave a comment on your group’s page. That comment will be your official check in. You must do the reading yourself (not listen) and check in weekly or contact your mentor each week in order to remain in the program. For many, accountability is key to completing this challenge, so check-ins are required.

For those Blogging Through the Bible in 90 Days, there is an opportunity to link a current blog post about your experience just past the check in links.

By now, your reading has either become a great habit or is slipping because you haven’t been able to make time for it. Reading the entire Bible, especially at this pace, is a tremendous challenge that requires schedule-shifting in order to happen. For most, this isn’t something that can just happen, it requires planning and decision-making of what to cut to make it work.

For those who are finding the time, what are you cutting? How have you shifted your schedule? Please let us know in the comments so others can learn from your ideas.

The first time I offered this program on MomsToolbox, Kimberly of Raising Olives, her husband and her four oldest children joined the challenge and succeeded. She shared her strategy for getting the reading done. After you check in, swing by for a bit of inspiration.

  1. i just want to say this is a blessing to me as i have tried to read the Bible several times through but couldn’t complete it. i thought i had joined the challenge in December but for some reason i don’t have a group so i joined again about three days ago. i just jumped in to the days reading while i try to catch up on the backlog i hope its OK to do that? thank you Amy and everyone for this feels like sisterly love. and Susanne, i join my faith with yours . Amen.

  2. I was looking for a change for my reading tonight from The Ignatious Bible I’ve been reading (and really enjoying)…I think I just needed a change in what I was looking at (my Kindle). So, I used http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/ to just enter the passages for today and it was a nice change. I just read on my computer screen and when I got to the bottom, I was finished for the day!

Just thought I’d share in case anyone else is looking for a little change now and then.

Checking in, but I dont seem to have a group x

  5. I posted earlier, but it didn’t show up.

I found you blog last week on the 13th. I was so excited! I went out that day and bought the book The Bible in 90 Days. I am determined to catch up with y’all and finish by April 1. I finished day 10 this morning! I cannot tell you how many times I’ve started reading the Bible all the way through, but did not finish. This time, however, I’m determined!

I’m not in a group because I didn’t find you until last week!

    Thanks!
    Angela

  6. I have a question about the Weekly Lessons over at the Bible in 90 Days website (http://www.biblein90days.org/). They are here: http://www.biblein90days.org/audiolessons/

We are starting week 3, so do I listen to week 3 of those lessons now? I think that is right.

I thought the Weekly Lessons would prepare us for the upcoming week, but found instead that they help us understand why what we read was important. That is, if I did it right!

The week 3 Weekly Lesson was very helpful for understanding what I read in Leviticus a little better. I hope to have time to listen each week.

I think I just answered my own question. If I waited for the end of week three to listen to the lesson, it would be about what I read one week ago and not helpful.

Amy, thanks for doing this. I imagine that this has taken hours and hours of your time to coordinate! Be blessed!

  7. I do not believe that I am in a group yet.

FYI – I’m a happily married man (24 years); married to my high school sweetheart and have four children ages 20, 16, 14 and 12. We have always been very involved in our church but I have been looking for more Bible time. I saw commentary on #B90days on Twitter and am giving it a go!

Hi Amy, as of tonight, I am up to date. I got several days behind this week, but had the blessing of a 3 day weekend to catch up again. I don’t know what mentor group or accountability group I’m in, so I’ll check in there once I know.
    Have a wonderful week! Dianne

  9. I have checked in! I am unfortunately really behind, but I am going to keep going no matter what. If I don’t catch up, I won’t be too far behind.

How do I communicate with my actual group?

  10. Checking in. I’m another one who has no clue what group I’m in. I got a bit behind in the reading yesterday but am catching up today. I’ve replaced pleasure reading and watching HGTV for daily bible reading.

  11. I leave my Bible left open on my desk. With all these snow days we’ve been having I can read a chapter or so each time I walk by.
On Thursday, I gotta little behind. I had my first mammogram, they found a curious spot and did a core biopsy that day. Now, I’m patiently and prayerfully waiting until they call and say, “Nothing to worry about.”
All caught up and enjoying the reading.

  12. Hi lindajha — I’m in a lettered group so I don’t really have anybody to check with either. So, I decided today that I would pray for you and your success in reading and staying on schedule. Go, girl!

  13. I LOVE this plan! The only thing I’m giving up is a little sleep and walking on my treadmill :) I’ve always done my quiet time early in the morning before the day’s distractions begin, but I’m getting up at 4:30 to assure I have time to read the day’s passage and pray…and I can’t wait to start every morning!
Praying this is a great week for all of us!

I am only a 1/2 day behind. Not sure how that happened because I started out a day a head. But I am enjoying the readings. I read at night before bed, or after dinner. It is amazing all the storys that are in the bible and how they all tie together. I love the fact that I have read through books like numbers and leviticus, cause those are the two that always seemed the hardest to get through.

  15. What am I giving up? I’m an avid reader, and I’m giving up almost all of my “reading for pleasure” time to do #B90Days! I even have a book I’m supposed to be reviewing that is being sorely neglected!

Do I regret my decision to do #B90Days? Not at all. (I’m even thinking of doing it again in July!)

  16. Already checked in with my group… but wanted to ask for prayers from the whole group that somehow I will find time *and motivation* to read more this week. I am really struggling with the motivation thing in many aspects of my life. :(

  17. I haven’t connected with a group. I am on schedule. I’ve had to rearrange my morning with homeschooling a bit. I’m really enjoying the devotionals.

  18. I’ve had to give up computer time in the evening. The great news is even when I’m finished my reading I don’t have that “I gotta go check email” urge as before. So I can see where this is having much needed results already.

  19. I had to give up being on the computer in the morning to do my reading. Except for today. I had to be on the computer to check in because I would not have time the rest of the day to check in.

  20. Hi Amy, what a blessing you are!
    Blessings,
    katia

  21. I have not receieved a group assignment. I have placed teh bible on my cell phone in both audio and visual. I commute every day so I listen to the verse. I also read at night to help me along. I was late all week but this weekend i got caught up…

Hi! I have been reading since Jan 3 and I am up to date, but I have not found out what group I belong to. Thank you for allowing us to have helping us experience God’s Word with accountability and helping form this platform were we can read the word together.

  23. I apologize that I didn’t fully understand the rules before signing up, but I’m going to have to bow out. funny thing is that I got the idea to listen to the readings from one of the mentors(perhaps just a blogger) last go around. I’d love nothing more than to able to sit and read uninterrupted, but I don’t see how it is possible every day. Last challenge I lost my home and I gave up reading. We’re in the middle of another move now. I’m listening while I’m driving or cooking supper or… It’s been a blessing. Although I’d loved to say officially that I did it in 90 days, I’m going to have to be A 2 time drop out.

  24. Thank you again for all the work you do to keep this large of a group linked together.

I’ve cut out some computer time and just made myself read before I go to bed to make this work. I did this last year in the evening, (I’m more of a night person), and it worked, so I’m hoping to accomplish it again.
