The reading for Wednesday is John Chapter 11.
Scripture:
John 11:14
14So then he told them plainly, “Lazarus is dead, 15and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”
Observation:
Jesus uses Lazarus’ sickness and death as a way to help the disciples and others get a better understanding of Jesus’ power and identity.
Application:
Some things might look to us like they are bad. But the Lord can still use them for His glory.
Mary was obviously upset that Jesus did not do anything as her brother died. Then she was amazed by His power when she brought him back to life.
I can look back and see several things which I originally saw as setbacks in my past that actually led to even better things.
God can use all of our experiences in life toward His glory and our good.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for staying by my side and guiding me, even when I wasn’t sure you were there.
Thank you for continuing to look out for your children and so often turn bad things into better things.
Please, Lord, help those who are suffering and hurting right now to turn to you and not away from you. Help them to see your glory. Use their awful experiences for your glory, just as you did with Lazarus.
I have several friends who are hurting right now. Please, Lord, help them to be truly comforted by you and help them to see your glory. Please take their pain away from them and replace it with awe and amazement of You.
Do you have any experiences where He has used the bad stuff for His glory in your life??
