Blogging Through the Gospels: Even the seemingly bad stuff is His Word

The reading for Saturday is Luke Chapter 24.

Here is what I heard:

Scripture:

Luke 24:44

He said to them. “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”

Observation:

He had told them what as to come and yet his disciples were confused. Here, after His resurrection, He is explaining that all that was foretold had to happen.

Application:

The prophecy was and is true, even the parts that aren’t pleasant. Even those parts still had to or have to happen.

I might want to minimize some of the things in the Bible which seem wrong or puzzling to me, but the fact is that the Bible tells God’s word. Even the icky stuff. I may not understand why it is there and I may not like some of the prophecies, but they are there for a reason.

Prayer:

Please guide us as we stumble over the more painful prophecies which we don’t like.

And, when seemingly bad things happen, help us to keep our focus on you for guidance and reassurance.

You know the complete story. We do not.

Thank you for your reassurance and love. And thank you for knowing the big picture… and sharing with us that is one where you are victorious!

Be sure to record your own SOAP observations and feel free share your own thoughts or a link to your thoughts, here, too.

We need our minds to be opened by Jesus–so that we may understand the Scriptures….

  2. How many times do we miss blessings Jesus is ready to bestow on us, just because we don’t invite him in??
