Can our pleading change the big stuff?

Scripture: Exodus 32:11, 14

11But Moses pleaded with the Lord his God not to do it. “O Lord!” he exclaimed. “Why are you so angry with your own people whom you brought from the land of your Egypt with such great power and mighty acts?”

14So the Lord withdrew his threat and didn’t bring against his people the disaster he threatened.

Observation: Moses called out to the Lord on behalf of his people. And the Lord listened and changed his actions.

Application: I think He wants us to cry out to him and beg for mercy. Even the decisions he has made against us can be changed if our motives in asking are pure. I wonder how much is up for negotiation.

Prayer: Lord, through the Bible you share stories of times you plan to destroy people and the honest pleadings from one man change your course of action. Are all things up for discussion if our motives are pure? What about all the scary stuff in Revelation? I know who wins in the end (You!) but if we were to cry out to you, could some of that destruction be circumvented (And you win faster, without all the pain?)? I feel like I’m on shaky, questioning ground here and I’m nervous about typing that for fear of what others will think. But it is my honest question: Can our pleadings stop more suffering, even the really big stuff?
