Check in time: We’ve made it to Week 2 of the New Testament in 40 Days!!

Matthew 10:35-Mark 14

Good morning, friends! It is Day 8 of the New Testament in 40 Days.

Our reading assignment for today is Mark 10:35- Mark 14.

Today is a fantastic milestone– you have been reading the New Testament daily for one whole week! How does it feel?

I hope that this new reading habit is touching your life in wonderful ways… and bringing joy to your heart while encouraging you to think of things in different ways.

It’s weekly check in time!

Please leave a comment below to let me know if you’re on track, a touch behind or flying ahead. Knowing you are reading alongside me is a great encouragement to me… and to the others reading with us. Plus, checking in weekly is a great accountability tool. Dropping a note every Monday to let me know how you’re doing will help keep you on track.

A note on the reading…

Today’s reading again spans so much. One thing that grabbed me, though, was Peter’s denial of Jesus and Jesus’ love of him nonetheless.

Jesus tells Peter that Peter will deny Jesus three times before the rooster crows. Peter finds this to be unbelievable and yet, of course Jesus speaks truth and that is exactly what happens. We know from our reading last week, though, that this denial does not last… Peter loves and follows Jesus and Jesus still reappears to Peter and the others.

Our Father knows we sin. He knows we are going to sin. And offers forgiveness and relationship to us still.

How beautiful and kind is that?!

And that’s just one thing that I heard today in the reading.

What about you? What stood out to you? I hope you are finding gold after gold.

I’m so glad you are reading with me! Please keep it up. And please drop a note in the comments to let me know how it is coming along for you. THANKS!

A bit behind but will catch up tonight. This time in the Word has been so good. I love the concentrated time in the NT – just reading it as a story. It is truly alive!

    1. I hope you were able to catch up and are still enjoying the story. :)

  9. On track. Surprised I’ve made it this far but I really appreciate the comments and positive encouragement.

Slowing my brain down to read and to resist the temptation to “study” requires a special type of patience.

Funny how I’ve had SO many conversations over the years about the bible and never really read it. Is that a common thing? Seems a bit ridiculous in retrospect but better late than never!!! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Looking forward to seeing where this goes next.

    1. YES— this it is a VERY common thing to talk about the Bible and not read it. I am so glad you are changing that for you. :)

  10. Jesus was able to grow his disciples’ faith by doing miracles and teaching to them for several years. They certainly wanted to believe but they had questions just like we do! He had to show them who He was but Jesus knew that their belief and faith would not be grounded and rock solid until after the his resurrection. He frequently referred back to what the prophets prophesied and what was showing to be true at that time. We grow our faith and understanding who He is by growing our relationship with Him. It can start off in a decision to follow Jesus and then as we are ‘with’ him, and with God, through the Bible and prayer, our belief and faith grows as we understand Truth more clear. Just as we see the disciples growing in their faith the more time they spend and listen to Jesus.

    1. yes, yes and YES!! So very true, Heidi! Thanks so much for sharing this with us!!
